Math Update

Yesterday our second graders explored 2D and 3D shapes by building vertices and sides using some fun materials…. marshmallows and toothpicks.  We are also learning the names of shapes using the HeadBandz game.

We are extending our study of geometry and measurement by using a line plot to show data.   Today we measured the height of our classmates and tomorrow we will chart the results in a line plot.  In the next few days, we will be using many units of measurements including meters, inches, feet and yards.  Below find the most recent parent letter .

Math Update

Our second graders are in the middle of their study of geometry including measuring in centimeters and inches as well as building and identifying 2D and 3D shapes ( triangle, square, rectangle, quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon, cube, pyramid, rectangular prism, cone and cylinder).  We were able to explore these shapes in  fun ways…. with marshmallows and by playing geobands (just like the game Headbandz but with geometric shapes)!!!
