Happy New Year!!!!!

Welcome to 2012!!!! I trust that your family has enjoyed a wonderful holiday season despite the lack of snow :(. I have missed my little second graders and can’t wait to see them on Tuesday. Here are a few things to keep in mind as we get back into our routine this week:

* School begins on Tuesday for students.
* Just in case you need it, here is the link for the January Lunch Menu
http://www.jenhudfood.org/
* As we anticipate the first “real” snow of the year, please make sure that your child has shoes to change into at school. If your child has gym shoes at school, that works fabulous! Otherwise, make sure that you send shoes with your child each day. Labeling snow pants, mittens, and hats with your child’s first or last name is also helpful. We have MANY pairs of black snow pants down our hallway that get “lost” :).

See you on Tuesday!!!!

Second Grade Tidbits

Hi Families,

Please take a few moments before school begins to look through our second grade classroom handbook.  Feel free to print it and save it for future reference.   Can’t wait to meet each of you at our Open House in three weeks on Aug. 31!

2011-2012 Parent Survey

Welcome 2011-2012 Families!!!! As we prepare for the upcoming year together, please take a few moments to fill out this brief PARENT SURVEY.  Doing so will assist with complying important contact information, classroom volunteering, but most importantly, an opportunity for me to “get to know” your son or daughter. 🙂

Enjoy the beautiful weather!

Parent Teacher Conferences

During the week of November 1,  we will be holding parent/teacher conferences district wide for elementary parents.  We reserve a 15 minute slot to meet with parents of each child.   To help us with the scheduling of nearly 600 conference time periods, we would like to ask that you let us know your day preference for these meetings.

Some helpful tips:

1.  If you have more than one child at Georgetown, we will schedule all your conferences on one date.  Therefore, you only need to complete this form ONCE.  We will meet as a team to set up the conference and all teachers will have access to the list of preferred days for each family.

2.  If you have a pre-kindergarten or kindergarten child, please note that the PK and K teachers have a slightly different schedule.

3.  Once we have all information back, we will post the conference schedule on our blogs and alert you via email for your time period.

Please complete this conference form by October 15.

Thank you for you help in this very important task.  I am looking forward meeting with you soon.

Updates for September 17

Hello Families,

It’s official, we have successfully completed the first FULL week of school… WOOHOOO!!!!  The boys and girls have done a great job adjusting to second grade routines and expectations.  We have been busy writing in our new journals, increasing our stamina during Read To Self time, learning how to pick “Good Fit Books”,  brainstorming about what families and communities are as well as getting Reading Counts up and going.  Your second grader deserves a big hug for all of their hard work!!!   I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them and consider it such a blessing to work with them!
