Last Friday we had a PLANTS learning day.  We learned about the parts of a plant and the jobs they had,  the 3 basic needs of a plant and a plant’s life cycle.    Our second graders loved eating, or at least trying, different parts of a plant (celery -stem,  flower – broccoli, spinach – leaf, carrot – stem, fruit – tomato) and looking for the tubes in celery to see and feel how the water is transported to different areas of the plant.   This week we have a guest speaker coming on Wednesday to talk with us about plants and we are really looking forward to our field trip on Friday :).
