We had a wonderful day celebrating our reading and writing. Your child will be bringing home some writing from the year today and they can’t wait to amaze you with how much they have learned as writers.

Just Write Celebration!
Our hallways are full of poster size children’s stories! We will be celebrating our writing as a class on Tuesday June 2, from 1:00 – 1:45, by touring the building, sharing our stories, and listening to a few of our very own authors. Parents, you are invited to come and join us for this celebration if you would like!

Many thanks go out to our visitors today that helped our amazing second graders celebrate their writing! We LOVED having you visit our classroom and tour the school. I am so very proud of each of my little friends!

Here are few dates to mark on your calendars:
Friday May 11 – Last day for READING COUNTS. Students who meet their goal, will earn a pizza lunch with me. If students double their goal, they will also earn an ice cream party. For students that triple their goal, a special rollerskating outing will be planned. Keep reading!!!
Monday May 14 – Field Trip to Pell Greenhouses… WOOHOO!!! Make sure to pack a paper/cold lunch.
Thursday May 17, 12:45- 1:30 – “JUST WRITE” Celebration…. We would love to have a special visitor for each student to come and join us on this day. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or special friends are invited to share in a time of celebrating our writers.

Just Write T – Shirts
Our class is preparing for our big writing celebration at Georgetown. The celebration will take place the week of May 14-18, 2012. This is a huge celebration of our year long work in writing with student and staff stories covering every bit of space in our hallways and classrooms.
Many children like to wear our special JUST WRITE shirt for this celebration. If you would like to get one for your child, the cost is $15.00. An order form can be printed off and sent in from the blog (link below). Paper order forms will arrive home this week for all youngest and only building reps.

Hi Families,
We have had an eventful week! Our friends from Taiwan came to visit, we learned about various bodies of water, reading assessments have begun as well as end of the year writing projects in addition to fine tuning number line strategies… PHEW!!!!
Here are some important tidbits of information that you will want to make note of:
* The last day of RC is FRIDAY MAY 13. Keep reading!!!! We have many students who have met their goals. These friends have earned What’s the Scoop with me… Greydan, Makenna, Braden, Isabella and Taylor. Our lucky bowling recipients so far are…. Braden and Makenna. Many children are very close to making these goals as well… WOOHOOOO!!!!
* JUST WRITE CELEBRATION ON MAY 17. You will not want to miss this! Please make sure that someone special attends this event to share in our writing accomplishments this year. We will begin at 9:00 with a POETRY CAFE READING by our talented writers and then proceed to tour the writing around the building. We will dismiss our guests around 10:00. Looking forward to celebrating with you!
* NO HOMEWORK NEXT WEEK!!!! Please use the extra time to read and work towards those RC POINTS :)!
