It is amazing to see our second graders venture into nonfiction reading and use strategies to help them understand what they are reading/learning. We have learned to talk “A LOT” and read “A LITTLE”. Good non fiction readers also ask themselves questions, search out answers in other texts and share what they know. Book clubs have studied a variety of topics including storms, bears, Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, The Titanic, insects and many more. This week, book club members are working on presenting their learnings in a meaningful way to their classmates.
